on our Kidblog.  Check my comments first to see whether I've suggested what else you 


should do with your piece.  You don't sign up to have me correct the me-bag story, since 


you are printing and sharing them in class. 




The due date for the Reflections Contest is October 

22, but if you enter by 

October  15, there is a bonus prize!

Don't forget that extra credit is available for entering the PTSA Reflections Contest!
2014 PTSA Reflections Contest  -- The theme is
The deadline for entries is  The World Would Be A Better Place If ...

Submissions due October 22, but there is a bonus prize if the entry is turned in to the front office before Fall Break! 
The categories are Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Photography, Musical Composition, Film Production, Literature, 3D Art, and Theatre
Students may enter as many categories as they would like, with one entry allowed per category (for a total of up to eight entries)



There  is also the scary story contest at the A.F. City Library, the Kawakami speech competition, and other contests.

Beginning tomorrow is a free writing workshop for secondary school students who love to write:
Logan Roe, a Language Arts Intern at Mountain Ridge Jr., is offering a series of workshops for secondary school students to get them writing for real contexts as his Honors Project at UVU.  These workshops will occur on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 4-5 PM at the Orem Public Library, October1, 3, 8 and 10. Students whose work really shines may be selected to present at the UVU Writing for Social Change Conference in early November.

Date to Be Arranged with Ms. Welcker -- Deliver and read the books to the first graders.

Illustrations may be hand-drawn, found using google images, cut and glued, but all must be neat and attractive.
All work must be carefully revised and edited.
